It's practically Christmas for the gay community with Sydney's lock-out laws lifted for one night on Sydney's Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
The parade to celebrate the evolution of LGBTQI+ rights is turning 40 and next Saturday as a gift the government they will relax lock out laws.
Party-goers will be allowed in to bars and clubs in Oxford street past the 1.30am restrictions on March 3.

Party-goers will be allowed in to bars and clubs in Oxford street past the 1.30am restrictions on March 3.
The move to lift the controversial lock out laws on Oxford street will give people the time to make their way to surrounding venues when the parade finishes.
Paul Toole the Minister for Liquor and Racing said venues will still need to follow their licensing conditions and not serve alcohol past 3am or 3.30am for venues with entertainment.
Christine Forster the Liberal City of Sydney councillor appealed to Premier Gladys Berejiklian to relax the laws for the parade as a gesture of goodwill towards the LGBTQI community according to The Daily Telegraph.
Sydney's Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade starts at 7pm on March 3.
It will cause major road closures from 5pm in the CBD, Darlinghurst and Moore Park.
