She's the comedian whose 2DAY FM breakfast show with Grant Denyer and Ed Kavalee is struggling to find a footing in the ratings.

And Em Rusciano copped quite the ribbing over her 'poor' on-air performance on Wednesday's The Weekly when acerbic comedian Tom Gleeson suggested the show was 'like a dinner party that no one would organise.'

The funnyman wasted no time in bringing up the ratings on his Hard Chat segment, stating: 'You're currently on breakfast radio with Grant Denyer and Ed Kavalee. There's three of you in the studio. Is that more than the number of listeners you have?'

Not wanting to appear churlish over the not-so-subtle dig, Em took the jibe in her stride, hitting back with a self-effacing answer.

'Yes by one,' she retorted. 'I know that we're rating lower than in-house hospital radio and the station that reports the fishing channels.'

Still not done, Tom then mentioned the disparity between the number of Em's listeners and social media followers.

'Your radio show doesn't rate but on social media you have hundreds and thousands of followers,' Tom observed. 'Does this mean that even your fans can't bear to tune in?'

Em could only chortle at the cheeky question before agreeing with Tom.

However, Tom suggested that it wasn't Em who was responsible for the show's performance, but rather her co-stars.

'Maybe the problem is you're on air with Grant Denyer and Ed Kavalee -it's like a dinner party that no-one would organise.'

But, Em was willing to take the blame, replying with: 'I would say I am the problem because we didn't rate last year when they weren't there either.'

With Grant and Ed joining Em after the departure of former co-host Harley Breen last year, the trio are struggling to win over audiences.

Figures for the second annual survey of listener numbers were released last week and showed that the 2DAY FM show had a 4.4 per cent market share.

While up one per cent on 2017, the show lagged significantly behind KIIS FM's Kyle and Jackie O, NOVA's Fitzy and Wippa and WSFM’s Jonesy and Amanda on 12.3 percent, 6.9 percent, and 8.1 per cent respectively.
