Gold Logie nominee Jessica Marais out of Logies for 'health' reasons

Actress Jessica Marais has unexpectedly pulled out of the Logie Awards this Sunday night, with her management citing her health as the reason for her absence.

In a statement issued to Nine's The Fix, Marais' team said that she is "naturally disappointed" about having to pull out of the ceremony - but they did not elaborate on exactly why the beloved actress won't be present on TV's night of nights.

"It is with much disappointment that we advise Jessica Marais is unable to attend the TV Week Logie Awards due to her health," the statement said.

"Jess is naturally disappointed, is grateful to TV Week and all the viewers who have nominated her for the Awards this year and wishes all the nominees and her friends a great celebration on Sunday night."

The short statement was finished off with a request for media to show their support for Jessica by "respecting her privacy".

Marais, who is nominated for her third Gold Logie this year, is usually one of the awards show's biggest drawcards.

Her starring roles in Channel Nine's Love Child and Channel Ten's The Wrong Girl have made her one of the most recognisable and popular faces in Australia - though, generally speaking, she seems to prefer living her life out of the spotlight where she can manage it.

Marais, who shares a six-year-old daughter, Scout, with ex-partner James Stewart, is up for two Logies at this year's event - the Gold, which is awarded to the most popular personality on Australian TV, and a silver, for Most Popular Actress.

The 2018 Logie Awards will be held at The Star on the Gold Coast this Sunday, July 1.
