Love Island contestant denies 'actress' claims

DESPITE being responsible for most of Love Island Australia’s drama, aspiring actress Cassidy McGill has denied she was paid to spice up the series.

Speaking to news.com.au after her elimination on Thursday night’s episode, the 23-year-old wishes her time on the show had been anything but dramatic.

“I can confidently confirm that I was not brought on the show as a paid actress, I don’t think I would have gone through that public humiliation for any amount of money,” Cassidy said.

“I wish I was that good of an actress, but you can’t fake those kinds of emotions.”

The bartender also rubbished claims that she played up her emotions to get more screen time, after eliminated contestant Natasha Cherie Webster told The Fix Cassidy could “cry on cue”.

“I did not play up any emotions, I would have much rather been the boring girl that was in a stable relationship the whole time,” Cassidy said.

Returning to Australia a single woman, Cassidy plans to hit the ground running and launch her acting career.

“Now that I am out I want to get straight back into work, put my head down, bum up for my career as an actress and hopefully find love along the way,” she said.

The reality star said she would let “the universe decide” what the perfect role for her was, but wouldn’t rule out TV or film.

“I haven’t really thought too much about what series or what show I would want to go on, but hopefully something pops up, or I can work towards something,” Cassidy said.

Cassidy exited the show in tears after an emotionally-charged love triangle between her, Tayla Damir and Grant Crapp turned into an all-out war.

She had originally been paired with Grant but in a shock move the Canberra plumber decided to dump the blonde in favour of Tayla.

Getting her revenge on the new couple on Monday’s episode, Cassidy voted to pair up with Grant in a move that alienated the house.

Despite the high drama, Cassidy has no regrets about how things turned out, claiming she “dodged a bullet” by not ending up with Grant.

“Grant and I clicked and we clicked for a reason. I think if Tayla wasn’t there yeah we probably would have lasted all the way through,” she said.

“But I am grateful that Tayla was there because I do see it as a blessing in disguise because Grant’s loyalty strayed from me so quickly.”
