Meghan's surprisingly thrifty hat choice

AS the new Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle has the world’s top designers on speed dial, but she was happy to settle for a surprisingly cheap hat on the weekend.

The newlywed was all smiles as she attended the wedding of Prince Harry’s cousin and Princess Diana’s niece, Celia McCorquodale.

Meghan looked boho chic in a loose fitting blue and white patterned Oscar de la Renta dress — which reportedly retails for $7379.

But perhaps giving Meghan more reason to smile was her choice of hat, with the Duchess of Sussex opting for a chain store fascinator that cost just $54.

According to Hello! Magazine, Meghan’s hat is in stock at UK retailer Marks & Spencer, where it is available in either black or white.

The cheaply-priced hat gave a polished edge to Meghan’s outfit, which was criticised by some for being too loose on her petite frame.

Like the Duchess of Cambridge, Meghan also favours mixing high-end designer pieces with chain store buys.

Meghan wore a pair of $31 brown leather gloves with her $1873 Sentaler coat while attending the Christmas Day church service with Harry.

Making an appearance at London radio station in January, the Suits star wore an $80 black jumper from Marks & Spencer with a pair of $800 Burberry trousers.
