Love Island losers' cringe-worthy reaction

AFTER getting off to a rocky star, Tayla Damir and Grant Crapp have been crowned the inaugural winners of Love Island Australia.

The surprise verdict left favourites to win Eden Dally and Erin Barnett visibly shocked, with the runners-up left standing awkwardly on the stage while Tayla and Grant hugged each other.

Eden and Erin, who have been accused of staging their relationship to win the show, couldn’t hide their disappointment as they missed out on $50,000.

The nail-biting finale saw Tayla and Grant’s relationship, which began while he was paired with contestant Cassidy McGill, put to one last test.

While Tayla had been given the chance to keep the $50,000 for herself or split it with Grant, the 21-year-old decided to share the money with her boyfriend of six weeks.

The finale also capped off a tense few days between the winning couple and Erin and Eden, with the two male contestants coming to blows on more than one occasion.

But despite the bad blood between the pair, Grant told news.com.au Erin and Eden were genuinely in love but “the pressure just got to them in the end”.

“I think at the end the game just started playing on their minds and I think they might have seen us as a bit of competition,” Tayla added. “You just never know what is going on in somebody else’s mind.”

Erin and Eden said they found the claims from other contestants that they were staging their relationship was “laughable”.

“I am so upfront and honest, it’s so hard for me to fake anything at all. I think everyone can come up with their own opinions, but me and Eden know that we are definitely not fake,” she said.

Grant and Tayla admit they are probably the most chaste pairing in Love Island history, with the journalism graduate making her man wait until leaving the show to sleep together.

“The poor boy’s got some blue balls — far out,” Tayla joked.

“It was hard, there were times when it was like, ‘oh my god we should give in,’ but we made do with what we could, we definitely didn’t have sex in the villa.

“We just wanted it to be more intimate and my Dad might not of liked watching … it was our own morals and obviously thinking about respecting our parents and family that are on the outside as well.”

Meanwhile Erin and Eden were the first couple to seal the deal inside the villa, with Erin explaining it was a no-brainer.

“Nothing was forced ... it just felt right, it’s not like we had a timeline,” she said of their decision to sleep together during the first week. “Once you had the doona over you it was like no one else exists.”

During the last week in the villa, both couples were rocked by rumours that Grant and Eden had “secret girlfriends” on the outside.

While both boys admit they was seeing girls prior to the show, they stressed it hadn’t been anything serious and it had ended before they went on Love Island Australia.

“Look I was seeing her prior to the show, she’s a really nice girl. I never wanted it to be more than what it was and I made it very clear to her,” Grant explained.

“Stephanie was a girl I wasn’t dating, it was no boyfriend and girlfriend … she can definitely vouch for that,” Eden said.
