An amateur Melbourne comedian and conspiracy theorist who had previously complained that ‘the mainstream media is running a brainwashing campaign which is designed to make everything think that males are bad’, has been charged over offensive graffiti left at the site of the memorial for murdered comedian Eurydice Dixon on 18 June

Andrew Nolch, 31, has been charged with criminal damage, offensive behaviour and marking offensive graffiti by Victoria Police.

He is due to appear before the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on Friday 10 August.

In a pinned post on his personal Facebook page, published late Wednesday 4 July, Nolch appears to confess his guilt.

Eurydice Dixon was murdered in Princes Park, Carlton North, while walking home from a comedy performance on June 13.

Offensive graffiti was found beside the pile of flowers and candles left where her body was found on the morning of a vigil marking Dixon’s death on June 18.

Nolch was charged by Victoria Police on 28 June. His identity was revealed today (4 July), on social media and in a story by Fairfax reporters Tammy Mills and Erin Pearson.

The day after the graffiti was discovered, Nolch left a long Facebook post responding to media suggestions the vandal responsible for defacing Dixon's memorial was the 'lowest of the low'.

Nolch's stand-up career appears to have limited success, with at one media outlet, the Herald Sun, describing him today as a 'failed comedian'.

He went on to host a late night Channel 31 program, The Kink, now defunct. He also presented himself as transgender for several months, before telling those colleagues who had supported him that it was a joke and that he believed gender transition was wrong.

More recently his YouTube channel has focused on 'Indie Scientology' and conspiracy theories about UFOs, chemtrails and other subjects.

On his Facebook page, Nolch makes numerous assertions about men being victimised by society. He also complains about universities bringing ‘thousands of foreignors [sic] to Australia’, and about vaccinations.

In a YouTube post from October 2017 he asked: 'Could the government be secretly combating global warming with chemicals that cause diseases in people? It makes sense.'

Nolch has not responded to ArtsHub's request for a comment at the time of writing.
