The hottest styles and trends from David Jones Spring/Summer show

IT MAY be nippy outside, but the fashion stakes are heating up for the David Jones Spring/Summer launch.

Stripping off the sweater in place of summery swimsuits, it was all about V-necks and thigh-high bikini lines for the annual show.

On Wednesday, David Jones took to the runway with the help of models Jessica Gomes, Victoria Lee, Adut Akech as well as international supermodel and former Victoria’s Secret angel Karolina Kurkova, and younger brother of Gigi and Bella Hadid, 19-year-old Anwar Hadid.

Marking the imminent return of hot days and balmy nights, the runway show — held in August each year — marks the official end of winter. Well, in the world of fashion anyway.

Speaking to news.com.au, ambassador Victoria Lee said the trends this season will feature lots of colour, texture and high cut swimwear.

“There’s a real mix this year,” the 27-year-old, who grew up in country NSW, said.

“There’s some beautiful asymmetric cuts, high waists and V-necks. Most are very beautiful but practical this season.”

Ms Lee, who moved from he home in Narrandera to the bright lights of New York several years ago, said her favourite style is the higher cut one pieces.

“It elongates your legs, and is a really flattering cut,” she explained.

“My favourite is a fitted one piece, and there will be a large variety [of them] this season.

“While there will always be room for bikinis, the beauty of a one piece are the details which make them really stand out. They make me feel really confident and sexy.”

The evening featured Australian womenswear brands such as Zimmermann, Camilla and Marc, Christopher Esber, KitX and Bianca Spender, as well as key new season accessories from Sarah & Sebastian, Celine, Ellery, Bally, and RM Williams.

Drawing from the campaign ‘House of Spring’, around 350 guests — including Karl Stefanovic, Jasmine Yarbrough, Lindy Klim and Anna Heinrich — watched on as 50 designers made their way down the runway.
