David's surprise admission about marriage

THEIR marriage is one of the most speculated about in the world.

But surprisingly David Beckham couldn’t care less about what people thought of his relationship with wife Victoria Beckham.

In a Sunday Project preview exclusive to news.com.au, David admitted he wasn’t bothered by the constant media speculation surrounding his marriage to Victoria.

“Do you get sick of the tabloids?” Interviewer Lisa Wilkinson asked.

“No, I’ve grown to kind of ignore some of the negative stuff that’s said,” David revealed.

“I think if you know each other, if you know you’ve got great friends, great family behind you, the thing we have to do is protect our children.”

Wilkinson also asked David what was the “secret source” to making his marriage to Victoria last.

“I think marriage, marriage is always about hard work,” he answered.

“You know your children — they want your time and they deserve your time, and difficult situations like travelling away, being away from each other you know, you make it work.”

In a post on Instagram, Wilkinson said she had been surprised by David’s openness when discussing his marriage.

“Charming? You bet. And completely candid about so many areas of his life I thought might be off limits,” she said.

Victoria and David married in 1999 and have four children together; 19-year-old Brooklyn, 16-year-old Romeo, 13-year-old Cruz and seven-year-old Harper.

In 2004, David was accused of having an affair with ex-assistant Rebecca Loos while he was playing for Real Madrid in Spain.

In June the couple were forced to quash rumours of a rift after untrue rumours spread on social media that David was linked to another woman.

A Beckhams spokesman rubbished claims they were divorcing as a “crock of s***”.

David and Victoria will both be in Sydney next week to attend the Invictus Games as the sports star is an ambassador for the event.

—Lisa Wilkinson’s interview with David Beckham will air on The Sunday Project at 6.30pm tonight on Network 10.
