Sylvester Stallone may have seemingly confirmed that Creed II is his last outing as Rocky Balboa, but co-star Michael B Jordan reckons it isn't the last we've seen of the character.
Earlier this week, Sly appeared to reveal plans to retire from the role, later posting a "final farewell" to the iconic part.
However, Jordan – who plays Adonis Creed in the boxing sequel – addresses the speculation that Rocky is no more in an appearance on The Graham Norton Show tonight (November 30).
Asked if the rumours were true, he recalls: "On the last day of filming everyone gave their wrap speech and he segued into passing the torch to me and I got really emotional really fast because I wasn't expecting it from him whatsoever.
"It's a character that [Sly] has played for 40 plus years – longer than I have been alive. It was pretty special."
Jordan adds: "We'll see what happens with Creed III. I'm pretty sure he'll be back."
His comments echo those of Dolph Lundgren (Ivan Drago), who also thinks that we will see Rocky again, saying on yesterday's Good Morning Britain: "I've heard that before. I don't really believe it, but we'll see."
Co-star Florian Munteanu (Viktor Drago) added of ways he could come back: "Maybe not the big way that he turned out in the Rocky and the Creed franchise. I think, like, a smaller role maybe. We'll see."
Jordan will be joined by Dawn French, Steve Carell, Ruth Wilson and Cheryl on tonight's Graham Norton Show, which airs on BBC One at 10.35pm.
Creed II is out in US and UK cinemas now.
