Hollywood stars evacuate as bushfires sweep through California

CHARLIE Sheen lost touch with his parents, actors Martin and Janet Sheen, amid evacuations for the rapidly spreading wildfires across California.

The actor made a plea on Twitter on Friday night, asking the public that “if anyone has eyes on them,” to please let him know. The couple was last reported to be in a group near Zuma Beach in Malibu.

“I cannot get ahold of my parents, Martin and Janet Sheen. They are in the group, at the staging ground near Zuma Beach,” Sheen wrote. “If anyone has eyes on them, please let me know that they are safe and sound in the middle of this horrific scenario. Thank you in advance.”

Just after 5pm AEDT on Saturday, his father emerged on Fox 11 LA News, telling everyone he was alive, but feared his home may have been destroyed.

State officials put the total number of people forced from their homes at about 250,000. Evacuation orders included the entire city of Malibu, which is home to 13,000, among them some of Hollywood’s biggest stars.

The news comes as Caitlyn Jenner’s Malibu home has reportedly been destroyed in the California fires, while other celebrities including Kim Kardashian were forced to evacuate as the blazes approached.

The fast-moving wildfire in Southern California has also scorched a historic movie site used by the HBO series Westworld and Dr Quinn Medicine Woman.

TMZ reported that Jenner’s home was burned, but her publicist said that was not yet confirmed.

The Olympic gold medalist later posted a clip to Instagram with her friend Sophia Hutchins, saying they were both safe.

“We don’t know if the house made it or not,” Jenner said.

“We’re having a vodka, it’s been a hell of a morning,” Hutchins added.

The death toll from the fires is now at nine but authorities fear it could go higher.

Kim Kardashian West, Iggy Azalea, Scott Baio, Will Smith, Lady Gaga, Cher, Denise Richards, Melissa Etheridge and Guillermo del Toro are among numerous celebrities forced to evacuate their homes, in some cases hurriedly trying to arrange transport for their horses.

Alyssa Milano said her home was “in jeopardy” but later tweeted that she was safe.

“Horses are finally safe. My children are safe. My home is in jeopardy but... everything with a heartbeat is safe. Thank you all for your concern,” she stated.

The wind-driven wildfire has also destroyed the home of Dr. Strange director Scott Derrickson. He said he is safe despite losing his home.

Bella Hadid shared a series of photos on Instagram, with a note that said: “can’t believe this....it makes me so emotional looking at these photographs taken in the past two days. our beautiful Malibu looks so sad today. malibu is such a connected, loving community with families that have lived there for 30+ years. Many of them growing up together raising children together for so many decades making so many memories... our high school has gone down as well as so many of the homes we all grew up in...pavilions was more than just a grocery store. I can’t even imagine how you all are feeling back home having to evacuate...im so sorry that you have to watch this happen right in front of you- Im sure it is the most painful thing in the world. my heart is so broken I am so sorry to every single person that lost their homes, and I hope we can come up with something very soon to help... as you can see- horses and other animals are being brought to beaches because there is no way to get out of Malibu anymore...I added a few places you can evacuate your animals to if anyone that needs help is reading this... I can’t imagine having to leave my horses behind..I feel so helpless right now ... thank you to all of the incredible fire fighters in Malibu and from the valley who are working so hard in danger for the community. You are so incredible And we salute you. I hope everyone is safe and I am praying for this psychotic fire to just stop!!!!!”

KIM’S FIRE SCARE

Kim Kardashian was given just one hour to evacuate her Calabasas mansion with her three kids, and later tweeted to her milllions of followers that the flames had reached the propertyy she shares with husband Kanye West.

The 38-year-old was told she needed to flee the dangerous area shortly after she landed in LA following a business trip in San Quentin, northern California.

Taking to Instagram to post photos of the vivid flames spreading throughout Los Angeles, the reality TV mogul asked her followers to “pray for Calabasas.”

Kim revealed that she and kids North, Chicago and Saint only “had 1 hour to pack up & evacuate our home.”

The star then began to share videos of the first responders.

She captioned one video: “Fire fighters are arriving. Thank you for all that you do for us!!!”

The destructive fires have also triggered a mandatory evacuation order for the entire beachside city of Malibu.

The fire broke out on Thursday northwest of Los Angeles and roared southward, jumping the US 101 freeway early Friday and sweeping into the Santa Monica Mountains.

Malibu has about 13,000 residents and lies along 34 kilometers of coast at the southern foot of the mountain range.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department tweets that the fire is headed to the ocean, punctuating the message with the declaration: “Imminent threat!”

Kim and Kanye’s sprawling estate in the gated community of Hidden Hills is estimated to be worth a cool $20 million.

Kourtney Kardashian was also forced to flee, posting photos of suitcases in her car as she sought refuge at Kendall Jenner’s house in Beverly Hills.

Both Kim and Kourtney live in Calabasas, near their mum Kris Jenner.

Kris Jenner’s neighbourhood was also evacuated, but the momager was in New York at the time watching Kendall storm the catwalk at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show.

New mum Khloe tweeted her whereabouts:

On Thursday night, the City of Calabasas’ official Twitter account announced that the Woolsey Fire grew to over 2,000 acres with 0 percent containment. The Los Angeles County Fire Dept. ordered a mandatory evacuation in all areas north of the 101 freeway; voluntary evacuations were in effect for Calabasas areas south of the 101.

The Ventura County Fire Dept. reported that 30,000 homes in the area of the Woolsey Fire were threatened.

The star-studded neighbourhood of Calabasas is just 20km from Thousand Oaks, where a recent mass shooting at a nightclub left 12 dead.
