Louis CK mocks Parkland school shooting survivors in stand-up set - ABC News

Audio has emerged of US comedian Louis CK apparently mocking the students-turned-activists from the Parkland, Florida, school shooting.

Key points:

  • Louis CK says shooting survivors "pushed some fat kid in the way"
  • New York comedy club owner says the comments were made at a show this month
  • A shooting survivor and a victim's parent are among those admonishing the comedian

The sound-only recording was posted on Sunday (local time) in a since-removed YouTube video that said it was from a December 16 stand-up set at a Levittown, New York, comedy club.

Several media outlets captured and posted clips and transcripts of the set.

"You're not interesting because you went to a high school where kids got shot," CK can be heard saying on the recording.

"Why does that mean I have to listen to you? Why does that make you interesting? You didn't get shot, you pushed some fat kid in the way, and now I gotta listen to you talking?"

The owner of the Governor's Comedy Club, James Dolce, told CNN the performance was one of the comic's six shows at his club in December.

"People love him. The crowds love him. He played to standing ovations for all six shows," Mr Dolce said.

Shooting survivor Ryan Deitsch was among many who took to social media to condemn the comedian.

Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter was killed in the shooting, admonished CK, saying he and his wife "deal with loss every day".

"Why don't you come to my house and try out your new pathetic jokes?" he wrote.

Former Parkland students Cameron Kasky and Kyra Parrow also took to Twitter to chastise the comedian's take on gun violence.

CK was also criticised for jokes in the set that mocked transgender people and people with disabilities.

A message seeking comment left at CK's website wasn't immediately returned.

A gunman killed 17 students and staff members at the school on February 14.

CK, 51, temporarily disappeared from public life after acknowledging and apologising for sexual misconduct in November of 2017.

He lost a production deal with FX networks and a movie release was cancelled.

But since August he has been making unannounced appearances, performing new material at east coast comedy clubs.
