Royal baby: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle godparents options - NEWS.com.au

In a matter of weeks, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will welcome their first child — but who will they choose as godparents?

While the chosen friends or family have not yet been announced, according to reports it’s unlikely the couple will pick in-laws Prince William or Kate Middleton, according to The Sun.

While William and Kate have three children: Prince George, five, Princess Charlotte, three and eight-month-old Prince Louis, Meghan and Harry were not chosen to be godparents for any of their nieces or nephews.

A few years ago, royal correspondent Robert Jobson explained as Harry is already an uncle, he “will have a role in [the baby’s] life anyway.”

Which does make sense.

While there is a chance the Duke and Duchess could break from tradition and choose Will and Kate, there are some other people who we think will be in the running.

THE MULRONEYS

Stylist Jessica Mulroney is Meghan’s BFF and her children were part of Meghan’s bridal party at the royal wedding.

Twins Brian and John were pageboys and daughter Isabel (who also goes by the nickname of Ivy) was an adorable bridesmaid.

Meghan is very close to Jessica and husband Ben, so we reckon these two could definitely make the cut.

THE CLOONEYS

Now that’s what we call A-list godparents!

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be very good friends with George and Amal Clooney and a few months ago, it was reported that the couples are “much closer than the headlines let on”.

George’s cousin Ben Breslin told Mail Online: “He’d make a wonderful godfather, he’d make a wonderful just about anything — he’s a good guy.”

MISHA NONOO

With Misha rumoured to be the mutual friend who introduced Harry and Meghan, it would be mega cute for her to be chosen as a godmother.

The fashion designer is close to both Harry and Meghan and the Duchess often supports her pal by wearing some of her gorgeous designs, like the sellout “husband shirt”

With godparents not usually announced until before the christening, Harry and Meghan might not have settled on a decision just yet — after all, there are plenty of pals and family members to choose from.
