Ariana Grande reportedly drops out of Grammys after producers ‘insulted’ her - NEWS.com.au

Pop star Ariana Grande will not perform at — or even attend — this year’s Grammy Awards after a blow-up with producers over her song choice.

Grande, 25, allegedly “felt insulted” after producers said she couldn’t sing her latest single 7 Rings, sources told Variety.

A deal was then made that would allow the pop singer to perform the song, but Grande allegedly pulled out of the performance after producers said they would be selecting the second song.

A source told Variety “that such stipulations were not imposed on other performers at the show”.

A similar drama erupted last year between the show’s organisers and Lorde, after the singer was denied the option to perform a song from her Melodrama album — one of the five Album of the Year nominees — and instead was offered a spot during the show’s Tom Petty tribute.

Grande has been nominated for two Grammys: Best Pop Vocal Performance for her song God Is a Woman and Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener. Her fifth studio album, Thank U, Next, is slated to be released on Friday.

Grande has had a career-smashing year. Her song Thank U, Next broke the single-day streaming record for a female artist on the Spotify streaming service, Forbes has reported.
