The man who Sydney’s millionaires and billionaires turn to make their “dreams come true” has revealed the eye-watering price tags celebrities charge for meet and greets.
Karim Gharbi is the managing director of The VIP Sydney, a concierge service catering to the uber wealthy in Australia and overseas, and stars in the Channel 10’s new pilot Sydney’s Crazy Rich Asians.
Appearing on The Sunday Project, Mr Gharbi said the craziest thing he had ever pulled off was “closing down the Vatican for clients for a private tour”. We didn’t know we could but we made it happen,” he said.
But Mr Gharbi said celebrity meet and greets were extremely popular. “(We do) plenty of those,” he said, adding the prices charged by different celebrities varied.
“It depends — it’s like a stock market, a celebrity stock market. Sometimes celebrities are more expensive one day than another. Lady Gaga after A Star is Born, definitely her price has (risen). It can range between hundreds to a million.”
Host Lisa Wilkinson asked, “I want to know who goes for a million?”
Mr Gharbi replied, “Kylie Minogue does”, adding that he was talking about British pounds. That works out to $1.8 million.
“Believe it or not she’s very expensive and very stable, even though she has not released anything recently,” Mr Gharbi said. “She is — I was like, wow.”
Sydney’s Crazy Rich Asians follows the lavish lives of three wealthy friends — a real estate mogul, a charity princess and a beauty queen, who all rely on Mr Gharbi to arrange everything from private parties to swimming lessons for them.
