Just two weeks into its mammoth debut season The Masked Singer has already captivated much of Australia’s TV audience.
But the wacky concept is far from new, with the show already airing in almost a dozen countries after originating in South Korea.
Known for its unique music scene, the country attracted Ryan Reynolds to their version of the series in 2016—when he gave an unforgettable performance.
The actor made his masked appearance back while promoting Deadpool 2 in a remarkable rendition of Tomorrow from the Annie soundtrack.
Dressed as a unicorn draped in a rainbow-coloured cape, the father-of-two - who’s married to Blake Lively - belted out the tune as part of a theatrical performance.
Even behind the mask Ryan seemed almost pitch perfect throughout the song, which gained a rapturous applause from the audience.
But despite the effort, the star sadly failed to progress to the next round—before Ryan’s eventual unmasking sent the South Korean audience wild.
"This was such a thrill, this was an unbelievable honor to me," he said after taking off the unicorn costume.
"You guys pushed me to my own limits, and I thank you for that.”
Let’s hope he’s keen for a redo, as several Aussie Masked Singers’ identities still remain unknown.
