Chris Hemsworth has smacked down as a “complete lie” rumours that he called in a fleet of water trucks for the gardens at his Byron Bay mansion.
In a rare move he took to Instagram on Monday morning to express his outrage after online news sites made the assertions, and linked it to the bushfires and drought crises currently gripping the east coast.
Hemsworth said: “Normally I wouldn’t respond to false articles like this but it bothers me a lot.”
“The water truck was purely for drinking water because like everyone in the region who is not connected to town water we have run out of potable water due to the drought.
“NONE of my garden is fed by drinking water. Thanks for your concern #dailymail and thanks for adding more distress to an already brutal situation the whole country is dealing with. Merry Xmas”

Hemsworth’s newly built $20m mega-mansion was completed this year. Photos show the home, which cost an estimated $8.8 million to build, boasts a minimalist theme with matching grey concrete covering the floor, walls and high ceilings.
Hemsworth and wife Elsa Pataky reportedly paid $7 million for the original property on 4.2ha of land in Broken Head 12kms from Byron Bay in 2014, tearing down the existing eight-bedroom Balinese-style mansion to make way for the new build.
Neighbours, though, are not all happy, with some labelling the property “obscene, greedy, flashy and vulgar”, according to The Daily Telegraph.
