Lizzo teases Miley Cyrus during hilarious appearance on The Project - NEWS.com.au

Lizzo brought her infectious laugh and effervescent personality to The Project panel Monday night, and it was hard to tell who was enjoying themselves most.

A barrel of giggles as she chatted comfortably with hosts Peter Heliar, Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald, Gorgi Coglan and Peter van Onselen, the megastar talked all things bushfires, live shows, twerking and her unusual attraction to Fitzy.

At one point, the bubbly star even made a mock-dig at singer Miley Cyrus, referencing Nikki Minaj’s infamous 2015 MTV VMA Awards call-out.

Responding to Gorgi asking if we could “keep” Lizzo in Australia following her volunteer work with Foodbank for Victoria’s bushfire relief last week, the star joked that she’d need to marry for dual citizenship.

“Do you want a Hemsworth?,” joked Fitzy.

“I want a cousin!,” Lizzo responded.

“What do the cousins look like? I don’t want no beef with Miley, do you know what I’m saying? Miley what’s good!,” she said, facing the camera in mock intimidation as she quoted the infamous line that thrust Miley’s 2015 feud with Nicki Minaj into headlines.

The reported 2015 beef between the two megastars began when Miley called Nicki “not too kind” in an interview with the New York Times.

Nicki Minaj responded onstage during her VMA’s acceptance speech, saying: “This b*tch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press — Miley, what’s good?,” with the line quickly going viral.

Elsewhere in tonight’s Project interview, ‘Good as Hell’ hit maker Lizzo joked that she was hungover and sweating “pure tequila”.

“You know what, Australia – I’m getting hot, hold up, you are all making me laugh and sh**, I’m hungover, this is pure tequila coming out of me!,” she said, going on to answer van Onselen’s question about why she thinks kids are such fans of her music.

“I love the fact that kids love me because I’m making music to make us better, to make us smile, to make you love yourself and I think children need that more than anything so they can teach the next generation how to love themselves so I love it.

“I just feel bad for the parents because the little kids be walking around like, “I’m that b****,” you know what I mean! And they turn around and their a*** cheeks is out! But you know what, love your body.”

Later, the panel aired footage of Lizzo pointing Fitzy out at a gig at Nova’s Red Room on Friday, saying he looked like a “sexy kangaroo”.

“I have been called worse over the years!,” Fitzy said, laughing as the star convinced him it was a compliment.

And when asked for twerking tips, she mercilessly roasted the comedian.

“I don’t know, I don’t think you should be twerking, I don’t think that is your thing sis,” she said to roars of laughter from the studio audience.

“I think for the people at home who want to twerk … It is about freedom. Have you ever been hit by a door or something and you feel your butt cheeks jiggle on accident?,” she asked.

“Mine are jiggling now to be honest,” Helliar quipped back.

But he was no match for Lizzo’s sense of humour, who whip-snap responded: “Is that what that smell is?!”

Fans watching at home flocked to Twitter to praise the hilariously candid interview.

“Loved this. And the laughter at the desk. Hilarious. She is divine,” one viewer commented.

“She’s everything!,” added another.

Lizzo is up for a whopping eight Grammy Awards later this month.

The ceremony will air in Australia on Monday, January 27th.

The Project airs Sunday – Friday from 6.30 on Ten.
