Margot Robbie is arguably one of Hollywood's most in-demand stars.

And the 29-year-old actress has revealed her busy schedule can sometimes get in the way of quality time with her husband, Tom Ackerley.

While promoting her film Birds of Prey on The Project on Tuesday, she said: 'We don't get as much downtime as we'd probably like.'

Margot married the British film producer in Byron Bay, NSW, in 2016.

They also run film production company LuckyChap Entertainment, which is responsible for I, Tonya, Birds of Prey and upcoming thriller Promising Young Woman.

Margot told The Project host Carrie Bickmore: 'My mum is like, "You have got to leave work at work, so you guys can have time for yourselves."'

She added: 'We don't get as much downtime as we'd probably like, but we both really like what we do!

'We don't have time for chill, but we have a lot of fun and we love what we do.'

Margot is nominated for an Oscar in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role as Kayla Pospisil in Bombshell.

She will be taking her cousin Julia as her date.
