Mundine: gay people are 'confusing'

Sports star Anthony Mundine is to be the first "intruder" on this season of 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!'

The exact details of his exit are being kept a secret by Ten however NewsCorp reports he had just completed the Viper Room challenge before he exited.

Mundine posted on Facebook confirming the news stating he had achieved everything he set out to achieve when he joined the show less than two weeks ago.

"Hey everyone! No doubt you have seen the headlines by now that I have left the jungle," he wrote.

"It was an incredible experience but I miss my family and feel like I have accomplished everything I wanted to do. I did all but one of the trials (which I couldn't compete in because of my foot) and met some great people and went out with a bang on an epic trial that you will see tonight.

"Thanks for the supporting me on the show & make sure you watch me go out with a bang !! See you all back home."

Mundine is the second celebrity to quit the show after tennis player Bernard Tomic made his high profile exit after just two nights in the jungle.

The boxer has been a divisive figure on the show making controversial comments before and during his time in the jungle.

Before the program began Mundine told Fairfax Media that "gay people confuse society" and during conversations with other contestants in the camp he said he felt OK about telling his partners what to wear because it was "for their own good".

He also recounted an experience as a teenager where police drew guns on him because he was driving a "fancy car".

Mundine entered the jungle as the first intruder as part of a hyped-up "rumble in the jungle" publicity stunt from Ten.

His boxing rival Danny Green became the second intruder on Sunday night with the pair forced to complete a tucker trial against each other.

Green entered the jungle in the wake of comments made by radio presenter and former AFL player Brendan Fevola who said the the Green-Mundine rivalry was fake.

Green went on a PR offensive to deny the claims ahead of entering the jungle and I'm A Celeb... hosts Chris Brown and Julia Morris went to great lengths to reassure viewers the rivalry was, in fact, real.

Mundine's departure will be played out on tonight's episode.
