What We Know So Far
Arjun Kapoor flew to Dubai today to be with his father Boney Kapoor as the Kapoor family awaits clearance to bring home Bollywood icon Sridevi's body. The uncertainty over Sridevi's sudden death has intensified with no clarity on when her body would be repatriated to India and officials saying there was no change in the situation on the ground as far as the investigation was concerned. The matter is with the Dubai Public Prosecution and would proceed only after a go-ahead from it, said officials. The Dubai Police said on its Twitter handle yesterday that Sridevi drowned in her bathtub after she lost consciousness. However, a forensic report circulated on various media outlets used the term "accidental drowning" as the cause of her death. The 54-year-old actor, known as Indian cinema's first woman superstar, passed away in her hotel room in the Jumeirah Emirates Towers late on Saturday, leaving fans, family and friends stunned. Dubai-based Gulf News said in a report the actor was under the influence of alcohol. She fell into the bathtub and drowned, it added. However, this could not be independently confirmed. Gulf News also attached a copy of the UAE government's forensic report on its Twitter handle. The report, citing accidental drowning as the cause of death, has a stamp of the "Ministry of Health UAE" and the director of preventive medicine, Dubai, Dr Sami Wadie. The report mentioned the actor's full name, Sreedevi Boney Kapoor Ayyappan, her passport number, date of the incident (February 24, 2018) and the cause of death.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who directed Sridevi in films like "Great Robbery", "Govindhaa... Govindhaa..." and "Hairaan", says that the late actor has been a "very unhappy woman" and her life was a "classic case of how each person's actual life is completely different from how the world perceives it". In a personal note on her, Varma says that she was the most desirable woman and the biggest superstar of the country but that's'just a part of the story. Verma says that except for a short glimmer of "English Vinglish" (her comeback film), Sridevi had been pretty much very unhappy. "She went through so much in her life and due to her early career entry, life never gave her time to grow up at a normal pace," writes Varma.
Vicky Kapoor, a former editor at the Gulf-based Khaleej Times, tells CNN-News18 that the Dubai Public Prosecutor will shortly release a report which will make it clear whether or not further probe is required to release the body of Sridevi.

A chief prosecutor told Gulf News: "In such accidental death incidents, the results of the post-mortem and forensic examination reports are referred to the Public Prosecution as part of ordinary law enforcement procedures.
