Meghan Markle joins Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton in formal double-date in London

PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle have joined Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge in their first ever joint engagement, with Harry joking the fab four were “stuck together for the rest of our lives”.

William and Harry also joked about the challenges of working with family and that their “healthy disagreements” come “thick and fast”.

The couples stepped out on a “double-date” for the first annual Royal Foundation Forum in London overnight, reports The Sun.

William, Kate, Harry and former Suits star Markle appeared on stage together to discuss why The Royal Foundation was set up, the projects they are currently working on, and their ambitions for the years ahead.

Harry said: “I am personally incredibly proud and excited that my soon-to-be wife, who is equally passionate about seeing positive change in the world, will soon be joining us with this work.”

For her part, Markle spoke about female empowerment at the event, giving her support for the #MeToo and #TimesUp campaigns at the event.

“I hear a lot of people speaking about girls’ empowerment and women’s’ empowerment you will hear people saying they are helping women find their voices,” Markle said.

“I fundamentally disagree with that because women don’t need to find their voices, they need to be empowered to use it and people need to be urged to listen.

“Right now with so many campaigns like #MeToo and #TimesUp there’s no better time to continue to shine a light on women feeling empowered and people supporting them.”

As for those familial disagreements, when asked by presenter Tina Daheley if the brothers ever have disagreements’ William responded with a quick, “Oh, yes”.

Harry clarified any fights were “healthy disagreements”, but “is it resolved? We don’t know”.

“I think it’s really good we have got four different personalities,” added Harry. “And we all have that same passion to make a difference.

“We have different opinions and they work really well [together]. Working as family does have its challenges; of course it does. [I think] the fact that everybody is laughing shows they know “exactly” what’s it like. But we are stuck together for the rest of our lives.”

Markle added: “Togetherness at it’s finest”

But Ms Daheley summed it up when she said: “Well you’re putting on a great show if [your last argument] is not resolved!”

American bride-to-be Markle will formally become the fourth patron of The Royal Foundation following her high-profile wedding to Harry on May 19.

Under the theme Making a Difference Together, the event in central London will showcase programs run or initiated by the Royal Foundation such as Heads Together, the Invictus Games, and United For Wildlife.

Launched in 2011, the foundation was set up by William and Harry as the main vehicle to pursue their charitable and philanthropic interests.

The Forum is hosted by BBC presenter and Radio 1 newsreader Tina Daheley and the audience made up of invited guests, supporters of The Royal Foundation, program partners and beneficiaries.

Prince William is expected to be Harry’s best man at his Windsor wedding and royal watchers will be keen to see the interaction between Kate and Meghan at their first appearance on official duties together.

The Duke and Prince’s mother Diana, Princess of Wales forged a strong bond with her sister-in-law Sarah, Duchess of York in the early years, but the pair fell out later on.
