Woman mistakes pregnancy for bad Chinese food
A Florida woman had no clue she was 37 weeks pregnant, and instead thought her labour pains had a culinary cause — a tainted batch of General Tso’s chicken, according to a report.
Crystal Gail Amerson of Pensacola, said she woke up early Sunday with a severe stomach ache that had her repeatedly running to the bathroom, The Pensacola News Journal reported.
“I had Chinese food the night before and I kind of figured maybe I had food poisoning or something like that,” Amerson, 29, said.
But before long, she learned that she was about to give birth to her second son, the paper reported.
“The stomach pains were just excruciating and I could hardly move,” Amerson told the paper. “I think it was about 6.30am when [the ambulance] got there. … It escalated so quickly that I was having contractions, and we figured out kind of what was going on because at first we really didn’t know what was going on.”
Her son, Oliver James, was born about half an hour later in the back of the ambulance.
Amerson said she’d never been one to feel the symptoms associated with pregnancy, such as morning sickness and weight gain.

Two babies diagnosed with measles in Sydney
A measles alert has been sent out for Sydney’s west and southwest after two babies were diagnosed with the highly contagious disease after returning from a trip to South Asia.
Anyone who visited The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Dr D Y K Tan’s surgery in Fairfield or Liverpool Medical Centre in the last week is being urged to look out for symptoms.
The infants are now isolated in hospital and are reportedly responding to treatment.
Four people have been diagnosed in NSW this month — with all patients contracting the highly contagious disease while visiting Asia. Pakistan, India and The Philippines have been identified as possible sources for the infections, said NSW Health on Thursday.
Symptoms of measles include fever, sore eyes and a cough followed three or four days later by a red, blotchy rash spreading from the head and neck to the rest of the body.

Drivers urged to take care on NSW roads
Drivers are being urged to take their time on NSW roads over the Easter long weekend, as thousands of holiday-makers head out of the city. Double demerits came into force on midnight Thursday, and will continue until Monday night.
The state’s roads minister says motorists are almost 10 per cent more likely to be killed or injured in a crash on a regional road during holiday weekends. “In the past five Easter periods, 69 per cent of fatalities and 52 per cent of serious injuries resulted from crashes on country roads,” Melinda Pavey said in a statement.
While speed was the biggest killer on NSW roads in 2017, tired driving led to the deaths of 75 people — most of which occurred in country areas. “It’s a scary thought, but research shows that being awake for about 17 hours has a similar effect on your driving ability as a blood-alcohol content of 0.05,” she said.
Drivers are being told to expect delays on major roads out of Sydney, around Sydney airport, and in parts of regional NSW from Friday to Monday
