Ryan Seacrest avoided like the plague at Oscars amid harassment claims

Kelly Ripa and Whoopi Goldberg, who are both employed by US network ABC – the same network as Seacrest, also stopped by to offer their support.

Taraji P. Henson was the only one to address the elephant in the room when she reached out and touched Seacrest's chin and said, "The universe has a way of taking care of the good people, you know what I mean?”

Yes, we know what you mean Taraji.

When she moved on to speak to the ABC after Seacrest, she was asked how she was doing and she replied: "I'm great now that I’m in your company."

Seacrest interviewed mostly males, including Christopher Plummer, who had to step in and shoot All the Money in the World when Kevin Spacey, who has also been accused of sexual assault, had to be erased from the movie.

Plummer didn't mention the subject.

"In the theater, disaster happens all the time. I love risk. We all do," Plummer said.

It was claimed that E! employed a 30 second delay on Seacrest's Live From the Red Carpet coverage so they could protect their cash cow.

“The plan being considered is to mainly ensure plenty of time to either cut to [co-host] Giuliana [Rancic] or to pull the plug altogether unnoticed if an on-camera encounter with Ryan goes into tricky territory,” a source told Deadline.

However, an E! spokesperson has since denied that.

"We tape multiple sources of content simultaneously to deliver the best possible show, and there are often brief delays between interviews," they said.

A number of people on social media also took issue with the fact that E! granted Seacrest a coveted red carpet spot despite the allegations, while his female co-host Giuliana Rancic was 200 metres across the road at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel's pool.

It comes after E! was criticised live on E! for its failure to pay its female and male stars equally.

For the E! network, it was as if #TimesUp or #MeToo did not exist.
