Shannen Doherty's positive Instagram post amid cancer setback

A YEAR ago former Beverly Hills 90210 actress Shannen Doherty announced that she was in remission for breast cancer.

Now, the 46-year-old has shared with her Instagram followers that she has had a series of tests that found “elevated” markers on a tumour scan.

Doherty was quick to point out that the “elevation can be from all sorts of things” but said she was taking stock of her life once again.

“It certainly helps put things in perspective and reminds you of what you learned thru the cancer journey,” she said. “And I sometimes, need a refresher. As I’ve said before, cancer changes your life in ways no one could ever imagine.”

“Even after that call, I’m staying positive and taking stock of my life,” she said.

The actress was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2015 and has been documenting her journey on social media, bravely showing many of the scary moments cancer patients have to go through.

A year ago, when she announced she was in remissions she was cautiously optimistic.

Today was and is a moment. What does remission mean? I heard that word and have no idea how to react. Good news? YES. Overwhelming. YES. Now more waiting,” she said at the time. “As every single one of my fellow cancer family knows, the next five years is crucial. Reoccurrences happen all the time. Many of you have shared that very story with me.”

“So with a heart that is certainly lighter, I wait. But for now ... remission. I’m going to just breathe.”
