We can't wait to try this brand new café on Cambridge's Quayside

A brand new café has opened on Cambridge riverside, and is already making a splash on the local food scene.

Last Friday (April 6) Café Foy opened its doors on the Cambridge Quayside, off Bridge Street by the Punt Yard bar and Las Iguanas restaurant.

It is located at the site of the former Benedetto’s café, which only opened in 2016.

As well as sumptuous food, Foy also has an alcohol licence, and will be serving up a range of delicious cocktails, and a wine list put together by the Cambridge Wine Merchants.

While the launch has been low-key, with no official website or public contact details, the team behind the new café have been busy on social media, sharing pictures of some of the eye-watering dishes they hope to serve.

Food and Drink

Foy has also been praised by the Cambridge BID, which dubbed it its ‘business of the day’ on Wednesday (April 11).

On its Facebook page, which already boasts over 300 likes, the café has also shared a copy of its opening menu, which includes its “epic toasties, awesome scotch eggs and great cakes”.

On Instagram the team has also been sharing its breakfast menu ideas, and beautiful pictures of some of the food it will be serving.

Diners can currently enjoy sourdough toasties with beef pastrami and Emmental cheese, four cheeses, cheese macaroni and pork shoulder or a vegan-friendly cavolo nero with field mushrooms and vegan cheese.

It also includes a range of cold sandwiches, and a range of four scotch egg flavours.

The menu adds: “Visit us again soon to try our expanded menu in the coming weeks!”

Lagona Bakery
The owner's of Cambridge's first Lebanese restaurant opened their new cafe a short distance away on Mill Road, in April.
Alongside traditional sweet and savoury pastries, the shop also offers honey from the London Honey Company, loose leaf and tea bags from Kanuka plus dried fruits and nuts.
Café Foy
Located right on the riverside opposite Magdalene College, Foy opened its doors in April with a limited menu of stacked toasted sandwiches and fancy Scotch eggs.
It hopes to expand its offerings further over the coming weeks.
