Royal wedding: Kensington Palace releases official wedding photos of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

PRINCE Harry and wife Meghan have released their official wedding photographs, with three stunning images capturing the magic of their Saturday nuptials.

In one black-and-white image, the pair sits on the steps of the East Terrace at Windsor Castle, smiling broadly. Prince Harry has shed his hat and Meghan her veil, as they smile for photographer Alexi Lubomirski, who also photographed their engagement.

Another photograph shows the newly-married pair in the Green Drawing Room at Windsor Castle, surrounded by their six flowergirls and four pageboys, including their nephew, Prince George 4, and niece Princess Charlotte, 3.

The third photograph is a more formal one, showing the pair with Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla and Prince William and his wife Catherine. Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland is also in the photo.

Their 10 pageboys and flowergirls are also in the photo. The Queen, 92, and Prince Philip, 96, are both seated, as is Catherine, who has Princess Charlotte on her knee.

Meghan is wearing her veil and holding her bouquet.

The photographs were taken after their carriage-ride through the streets of Windsor.

A Kensington Palace spokesman said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex would like to thank everyone who took part in the celebrations of their wedding on Saturday.

“They feel so lucky to have been able to share their day with all those gathered in Windsor and also all those who watched the wedding on television across the UK, Commonwealth, and around the world.

“Their Royal Highnesses are delighted with these official portraits taken by Alexi Lubomirski and are happy to be able to share them today. They would also like to say thank you for all of the generous messages of support they have received.”

Mr Lubomirski said his involvement with the couple had been “a beautiful chapter in my career and life that I will happily never forget.

“It has been an incredible honour and privilege to document The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s inspiring journey of love, hope and family; from the engagement photos, all the way through to the official wedding and family portraits on Saturday,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, Meghan and Harry have been pictured for the first time since their wedding day.

The Sun reported that Harry was photographed driving the pair - given the title the Duke and Duchess of Sussex - into Kensington Palace in a blue Land Rover.

Both wearing sunglasses, the couple were seen smiling as they arrived back at their new Nottingham Cottage home within the palace grounds.

SAMANTHA MARKLE LASHES MEGHAN’S MUM

MEGHAN Markle’s estranged half-sister has accused the Duchess’s mother of “cashing in” on the royal wedding by agreeing to be interviewed by Oprah Winfrey.

Doria Ragland, the mother of the bride, is believed to have spent six hours with Oprah Winfrey in preparation for a forthcoming TV interview.

Samantha Markle, who was labelled a “vulture” during a confrontational interview with British TV host Piers Morgan, also accused Ms Ragland of leaking photos of Meghan to the press around the time the former actor started dating Prince Harry.

The wannabe author, who notoriously wrote a book calling Meghan “a pushy princess” made the claim on Twitter after she was called an “attention seeker”.

She replied: “Even Doria cashed in talking to Oprah and some of the first photos out there only she could have had.”

Oprah Winfrey was one of the top guests at the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, seated in the exclusive top three rows opposite the royal family.

According to British media reports, Meghan Markle’s mother is planning to film her interview with Winfrey while she is in London.

The Sun reports that Oprah was invited to the wedding in order to better understand Meghan and prepare for the interview with Doria.

Samantha Markle, 53, has repeatedly trashed the newly titled Duchess of Sussex in the media, accusing her of being “narcissistic and selfish”.

MEGHAN’S NEPHEW ‘CAUGHT WITH KNIFE’

It comes as reports emerged that Tyler Dooley, Meghan’s nephew, took a knife to a London nightclub and then blamed Donald Trump’s warnings about the dangers of the British capital, The Sun reported overnight.

The paper reported that Dooley, 25, a cannabis farmer who was not invited to the royal wedding in Windsor, handed the blade to a bouncer outside the club in Kingston, southwest London.

London’s Metropolitan Police did not name Dooley but confirmed they were called by security to the club “after a man openly declared he had a knife as he attempted to enter the club”.

The incident happened just hours after Saturday’s wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan.

“When officers arrived at 01.55 hrs enquiries led them to a hotel in Kingston and two men in their 20s were spoken to by officers in connection with the incident.

“One of the men also voluntarily surrendered a noxious spray. Both men, who were visitors to the UK, were warned about their actions,” the statement said.

“Neither was arrested, no further action was taken and enquiries are complete,” it added.

It is illegal to carry any knife in a public place in England except for folding pocket knives with blades measuring 7.62 centimetres or less.

Police commander Sally Benatar was quoted in the statement as saying: “The items were handed over voluntarily and there was no ongoing risk so the investigation was closed with warnings given.”

The Sun quoted Dooley as telling someone outside the club: “I just brought it because Donald Trump said London was like a warzone. I had it for protection.”

When contacted by a Sun reporter, the paper said Dooley “hid inside a bin cupboard” at his hotel.

Dooley flew into London last week with his brother and mother, the ex-wife of Meghan’s half-brother Thomas, who was also not invited to the nuptials.

DRESS DESIGNER REVEALS CHAT WITH HARRY

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Prince Harry took a special moment after his wedding to thank Meghan’s dress designer for making his bride look “absolutely stunning”.

In her first interview following the royal wedding. British designer Clare Waight Keller, the woman behind Meghan’s stunning gown, spoke about how Harry made a beeline for her after the ceremony at St George’s Chapel.

“He came straight up to me and he said ‘oh my God, thank you, she looks absolutely stunning’”, Ms Waight Keller said.

“I think everybody saw on television — he was absolutely in awe, I think. She looked just incredible and it showed.”

Born in Birmingham, Ms Waight Keller is the first female designer of French fashion house Givenchy.

Ms Waight Keller also revealed new details about how she kept the fact she was designing the

Duchess’s dress a total secret and only told her own husband and children a few hours before the wedding.

She said even other people who worked on sewing the dress didn’t know it was for Meghan.

“(It was) truly a secret Meghan and I shared,” the 47-year-old said.

The designer said she was commissioned by the former Suits star in January.

“It was an extraordinary moment when she told me. Of course it’s an incredible thing to be part of such a historic moment,” she said.

Meghan was apparently easy to work with and “knew exactly what she wanted”.

She’s exactly what you see on TV. She’s just so genuine and warm and radiant. She’s just glowing,” Waight Keller said.

The new Duchess of Sussex’s wedding hairdresser Serge Normant has also spoken about how the bride showed no signs of pre-wedding jitters.

“We woke up early, had a little coffee and then just went on. It was all smiles, it was just one of those dreamy moments to be honest,” Mr Normant said.

He said Meghan’s stylish up-do took just 45 minutes and was inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s famous bun.

“I wanted something very loose and easy which is why we chose a very loose bun,” he said.

Mr Normant, who lives in New York, is known for his celebrity clients including Julia Roberts, Sarah Jessica Parker and Gisele Bündchen.

MEGHAN STARTS LIFE AS WORKING ROYAL

Less than 24 hours after her marriage to Prince Harry, Meghan’s new, official profile appeared online on the royal family’s website, and highlighted her activist credentials.

Breaking out a statement she made to the UN in 2015 where she said “I am proud to be a woman and a feminist’’, the new profile created by the family talked up Meghan’s previous roles as an ambassador for UN Women and World Vision.

It also highlights her years of feminist activism.

“From a young age, The Duchess had a keen awareness of social issues and actively participated in charitable work,’’ it says.

“These early experiences helped to shape her lifelong commitment to causes such as social justice and women’s empowerment.’’

While the royal family will shy away from comparisons to Prince Harry’s mother, the late Princess Diana, Meghan, like Diana, appears to be taking on causes that are new territory for the royal family, which has traditionally stuck with military, environmental children’s and young people’s charitable causes.

Mainly after her marriage to Prince Charles had ended, Diana took on issues such as destigmatising HIV-AIDS and landmines, while Meghan has a track record of tackling sexism and equality for women and girls.

“Aged 11 she successfully campaigned for a company to alter their television advert that had used sexist language to sell washing-up liquid,’’ the royal family notes in her biography.

The profile says Meghan will be undertaking royal duties in support of the Queen both in the UK and overseas.

In a separate biography, it mentions her previous career with top-rating TV show Suits, and includes a photographer of her onset.

She quit the show, and her acting career, in order to become a royal wife.

The 36-year-old Duchess and her new husband will make their first appearance on Tuesday as a royal couple when they help Prince Charles host a garden party at Buckingham Palace for 6000 charity workers.

They are also expected to make a quick trip to Ireland — in June.

A possible Pacific trip is being considered to add on to their Australian Invictus Games visit in October, with aides considering visits to New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji.

The pair have not been seen in public since Saturday, when they hosted a glamorous reception for 200 A-list friends and family at Frogmore House in Windsor Castle. Details continue to emerge about the night, including that the pair’s first dance was to what Meghan has described as her “happy song’’ — Whitney Houston’s 80s hit I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

Hollywood royalty George and Amal Clooney were spotted afterwards jetting in to Sardinia in Italy, hiding behind dark sunglasses after reports the party went all night.

Harry’s brother Prince William and his wife Catherine were also seen making a low-key exit from Windsor Castle, also wearing dark glasses.
