A WEEK after this year’s AFL Grand Final the MCG will be taken over by an entirely different sport in an event that’s set to make history.
The WWE Super Show-Down will be held in Melbourne on October 6, the Sunday Herald Sun revealed.
In the days following the AFL final, the MCG will become completely unrecognisable as it’s transformed into a “WrestleMania-style” arena, the kind of which has never been seen in Australia.
Using more than 400 crew members and taking four days to build, the MCG will be made over to include an entry stage, walkway and ring built in the centre with thousands of temporary seats installed in the turf.
The event will play host to more than 70 WWE stars including John Cena, Ronda Rousey, Triple H and The Undertaker.
In another Australian first, the event will also be streamed as a pay-per-view event to 180 countries around the world.
The 70,000 seat event will top the previous Australian wresting record, held by a 2002 WWE event at Etihad Stadium which was attended by 56,743 diehard fans.
Tickets go on sale Thursday, June 28 at 10am via ticketek.com.au.
