MasterChef's Chloe Carroll eliminated from top 5

BRISBANE nutritionist Chloe Carroll was sent packing during the first elimination challenge of MasterChef’s finals week.

The 28-year-old battled South Australian prison officer Sashi Cheliah, 39, and Victorian waitress Jess Liemantara, 19, in a mammoth 90-step test to re-create Dinner by Heston Blumenthal chef Ashley Palmer-Watts’ sherried marron, but she lost due to issues with her tartare.

Speaking to Confidential, Carroll said she was proud to have made the top five and excited about the future.

“I never thought I’d even be on MasterChef – I thought I’d be going home in the first week, and I kept saying that every week,” she said.

“Looking back now, I know anything is achievable – sometimes you just need to take a chance.

“Getting your (MasterChef) apron is the massive highlight – that’s the beginning of changing your life.”

Chloe said appearing on the show and learning from some of the country’s best chefs, including judge George Calombaris, had changed her life.

“I pinch myself every day – I was blown away by the experience.”

She said that she was currently working towards her dream of starting pop-up cooking classes,
and was also planning a healthy eating initiative program for primary schools.

“There are kids coming up to me saying they’re cooking and they’re inspired by me – that’s what you really want,” she said.

Chloe, who will be giving cooking demonstrations throughout Ekka, said that the toughest part of her experience was being away from her family.

“Those were the times I didn’t do so well in the kitchen – when I really missed home,” she said.
