HERE’S all you need to know about what you can expect from the upcoming season, including details on the cast and the new teaser trailer for the female prison drama.
Orange is the New Black season six will arrive on Netflix and Foxtel at 5pm tonight (Friday, July 27, 2018).
The comedy-drama was one of Netflix’s first original series and has since grown to become the streaming giant’s most watched content, The Sun reports.
The first five seasons have been released to critical acclaim and all episodes are available on catch-up.
Season six’s episode count hasn’t officially been confirmed yet but it is expected to once again be a running order of 13.
WHO’S IN THE OITNB CAST?
Lead stars Taylor Schilling and Laura Prepon will once again be reprising their roles as Piper Chapman and Alex Vause respectively.
They will be joined by Uzo Aruba as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren, American Pie star Natasha Lyonne as Nicky Nichols, and Danielle Brooks as Tasha “Taystee” Jefferson.
Laverne Cox’s Sophia Burset and Taryn Manning’s Tiffany Doggett round off the principle cast.
Other cast members set to be featured in season six include Dascha Polanco, Adrienne C Moore, Nick Sandow, Lea DeLaria and Yael Stone.
WHAT’S THE TRAILER?
Plot details for the highly-anticipated season six are being firmly kept under wraps with Netflix declining thus far to release a synopsis.
Season five detailed the events of a three-day riot at Litchfield which ended with a number of the inmates awaiting their fate as officers in full battle gear arrive to confront them.
The 20-second teaser trailer shows us a glimpse of post-riot Litchfield, and it’s nothing but shattered windows and broken lights with the voiceover saying “This is a whole new world.”
The teaser finishes with the words “To the Max”, which perhaps suggest the inmates will be moved to a maximum-security prison as punishment.
