Sacha Baron Cohen puts politician through paedophile detector on Who is America?

SACHA Baron Cohen continues to outdo himself with outrageous stunts on the controversial new show Who Is America.

In episode three of the Showtime series, which aired today, Baron Cohen posed as Israeli ex-Mossad agent Colonel Erran Morad and lured failed US Senate candidate Roy Moore into an interview.

The results were disastrous and hilarious.

Within minutes, Baron Cohen steered the interview onto the topic of how to scientifically identify whether a person is a sex offender.

Moore was accused by several women in November of pursuing them as teenagers in the 1980s, with one woman telling a Washington Post investigation he initiated a sexual encounter with her when she was 14.

In the Who Is America? segment, an in-character Baron Cohen told Moore about a new Israeli technology that is capable of accurately identifying sex offenders and “paedophiles”.

“The phrase ‘sweating like a rapist’ is actually based on science,” he said.

Baron Cohen then pulled out the handheld detector and told Moore it wouldn’t beep “ … because neither of us are sex offenders”.

The comedian waved the detector over his own body and it remained silent. And, as expected, as soon as he waved it over Moore’s body, the detector beeped.

“It must be faulty,” Baron Cohen said. “It’s malfunctioning.”

He glided the detector over an uncomfortable-looking Moore again and it continued to beep.

“Is this your jacket? Did you lend the jacket to somebody else?” Baron Cohen asked.

Moore tersely said he had been married for 33 years and had “never had an accusation of such things”.

“Certainly, I’m not a paedophile,” he said. “Maybe Israeli technology hasn’t developed properly.”

Moore promptly stormed out of the interview.
