Modern Family star Nolan Gould hints his character Luke Dunphy will NOT be the one killed off

He's been a part of the cast since season one.

And it seems that Nolan Gould will continue to play the lovable Luke Dunphy on Modern Family, if an interview with TMZ is any indication.

A recent interview with series co-creator Christopher Lloyd revealed that one of the original characters would soon be killed off.

But the 19-year-old actor seemed to suggest that it wouldn't be him when TMZ asked if he knew the identity of the soon-to-be-deceased.

'I know who’s gonna die, I can’t confirm whether or not it’s me,' Nolan started hesitantly.

But then he opened up a bit more, admitting 'I know it’s not me, but I still think it’s kinda me, you know? I’m pretty sure they’re just gonna write in a second death and not tell anyone.

'That’s where my mind goes as a neurotic actor,' he added, 'I immediately called my agents after I heard [and thought] "Oh they’re gonna kill me off, they have to."

Original: Nolan, now 19, has been part of the cast since season one, which debuted almost 10 years ago; he is seen, right, with Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Ariel Winter and Sarah Hyland

While Nolan is no doubt relieved that his character will seemingly remain safe, he was then asked, just in case, how he would like his character dispatched, if it came to it.

'Like full Michael Bay action movie style, he gushed. 'Like Luke dies in an explosion and the Blue Angels fly overhead and spell out Luke in skywriting.'

In the meantime, Nolan has been busy filming two movies, the drama Yes and the dramedy Camp.

The brouhaha about a character death started when co-creator Christopher Lloyd spoke with Entertainment Weekly last month about season 10.

'We're handling some bigger life events in this season,' he said. 'We do deal with a death, which is certainly a topic that families have to deal with, and on television, it's not easy to do because that's a heavy subject.

'But at the same time, it would seem unusual for a family not to go through it.'

Lloyd remained secretive on which character fans would be saying goodbye to and wouldn't confirm if the death would be of a main family member.

He did admit the death of a 'significant character on the series' would be 'a moving event — and an event that has repercussions across several episodes.'
