OPENING CEREMONY
The Invictus Games opening ceremony will be held this evening at the Sydney Opera House forecourt. More than 500 wounded, injured and ill veterans and servicemen and women are coming to Sydney to capture the power of sport to instigate healing. You’ll be able to see the 500 athletes from 18 nations competing at the Games before the start of the eight days of competition. In pride of place will be the Aussie team, led by captain Emma Kadziolka. Come along and support competitors as they take part in 11 sports this week. Also on today is the first sporting event for the games. The Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge is on at Cockatoo Island from 9.30am to 2pm.
Tomorrow there will be a range of free events — including the Road Cycling Time Trial, Sailing and the Road Cycling Criterium.
2018 EVENTS
From Monday, the ticketed events will officially begin for the Invictus Games 2018. Day one will include indoor rowing finals, wheelchair tennis and sitting volleyball. On Tuesday there will be wheelchair tennis, powerlifting, swimming heats, sitting volleyball semi-finals and bronze and gold medal finals. Spectators will be able to watch the athletes compete in powerlifting, wheelchair rugby pool and the swimming finals on Wednesday. Archery, athletics and the wheelchair rugby semi-finals and finals will be on the program for Thursday. For the second last day, on Frida, October 26, fans can enjoy archery finals, wheelchair basketball and athletics before the last day of the games brings us wheelchair basketball semi-finals and finals and the grand closing ceremony. Tickets to the events vary from $15-$55 for the pool and heat rounds and $20-$70 for the finals.

LUNCH SPECIAL
To support the Invictus Games, O Bar & Dining on level 47 of Australia Square is raising funds through the sales of its special Invictus Games cocktail. CLOSING CEREMONY
To mark the end of the week-long event, next Saturday’s closing ceremony will bring together a star-studded line up — including Grammy-nominated signer Aloe Blacc, ARIA Birds of Tokyo, Colin Hay, The Kingdom Choir and NAIDOC award-winner Chris Tamwoy and the Admiral’s Band and Drum Corps. It’s happening at the Qudos Bank Arena on October 27, tickets $50-$175.

Royal-watchers will be able to spot the royal couple and newly announced parents-to-be today on Cockatoo Island for the first medal event of the Invictus Games 2018 — the Driving Challenge.
