Bachelorette Australia star Sophie Monk hospitalised

Sophie Monk has revealed a personal medical diagnosis in a startling video which she posted in an Instagram story on Monday.

Monk shares video which shows her unconscious and also talking to a doctor about her diagnosis.

The 38-year-old “Bachelorette” and media personality posted the intimate footage in which she is lying in a hospital bed, wearing a blue hospital gown and an oxygen mask as she is tended by doctors and nurses.

In the first video a groggy Monk, holding her iPhone, talks with the male doctor as he delivers his diagnosis after what appears to be a surgical procedure.

“We did find some endometriosis, but not a lot,” says the doctor.

In a second video Monk is shown on a gurney unconscious under anaesthetic as she is tended by medical staff.

Monk added a caption to the video, reading, “So many women live not knowing they have endometriosis. If you have annoying cycles. You should ask your doctor”, and added a heart emoji.

She captioned the second video in which she is unconscious “Best sleep I’ve had in years”.

She also had plenty of praise for the staff of Monash IVF, a Sydney In Vitro Fertilisation clinic where she had the unnamed procedure, calling them “bloody legends” and “angels”.

It’s not known who took the video but Monk reveals that she had “asked to be filmed under [anaesthetic]!”

Last year, Monk revealed that she was looking into IVF treatment and freezing her eggs in order to realise her dream of becoming a later-in-life mum.

Endometriosis is a painful female disorder in which tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside the uterus. It can cause fertility problems and is often first diagnosed when women are seeking treatment for infertility.
