'The Bachelorette': Charlie reveals truth about his explosive argument with Ali

CHARLIE has revealed the truth about the tense exchange he had with Ali that saw him being kicked off The Bachelorette last night.

The builder from New South Wales was sent packing after he refused to introduce Ali to his family and later vented his frustration that she was still dating three other men on the show.

“I just feel we need to be exclusive,” Charlie told Ali during a heated conversation before the rose ceremony. “You’re seeing someone else, that’s not right. In the real world you would call it unfaithful, in here it’s The Bachelorette.

“I’m not gonna beg for you, Ali,” he told her. “I’m not gonna get on my hands and knees and say, ‘Please don’t go, please don’t go’.”

Fed up with Charlie’s hogwash, Ali decided to end their relationship on the spot and said, “OK, leave. Take care. Be OK. Know that I’ll be thinking of you. Bye”.

Viewers weren’t impressed with Charlie’s behaviour either, with several women taking to Twitter to accuse him of gaslighting.

The argument lasted just a few minutes towards the end of last night’s episode, but as Charlie told Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa this morning, it was actually a VERY long conversation.

“It actually took about two and half hours to film that exit scene,” he told the radio hosts.

“We went backwards and forwards over and over again. At the end I was like, ‘You’re just not getting what I’m trying to say to you.’ I kept repeating myself. It was just me and I her.

“It was a really, really awkward situation because I just don’t think she liked what I was saying to her. It didn’t suit what she wanted and she was trying to get me to change that.”

Charlie tried to explain to the Nova hosts what he was attempting to tell Ali during the exchange.

“I just wanted her to know the truth that I wasn’t going to be able to stand there at the end and say I love you,” he said. “I’d only be saying it for the sake of TV if I did do that.

“We were all quite confused. Normally at this stage of The Bachelor/Bachelorette, you go, ‘Yeah, I can see who she’s into.’ But we had no idea. She’d spread herself so thin and was saying the same things to every guy in the house and had the same connection with all the guys. And we were going, ‘Who does she like?’

“You’re trying to let your guard down and give her everything but you’re not getting anything in return at all.”

Like so many reality TV contestants before him, Charlie also complained that he was a victim of bad editing.

“I’m really disappointed,” he said about the way he was depicted. “Unfortunately everybody only saw about 10 per cent of my personality which is a real shame.”

Speaking about his discussion with Ali specifically, Charlie said: “It was probably more what I said that was cut out that didn’t make me look like I was getting my point across, which I really did.”

Fitzy and Wippa also asked Charlie about his decision not to introduce Ali to his family with the reality contestant saying, “There’s more to that than you saw.”

“Unfortunately … the reason we didn’t do dinner is actually because my grandmother was extremely ill and my family had to rush to Newcastle to see her,” he revealed.

“That was completely left out which I’m actually quite upset with … They cancelled last minute.”

After being shown the door by Ali, Charlie has struck up a close friendship with Dasha Gaivoronski who appeared on the Honey Badger’s season of The Bachelor.

Appearing on KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O show, the reality contestants said they’ve only been hanging out for three weeks and haven’t got a label for their relationship at the moment.

As for Ali, she now has to pick from Bill, Taite and Todd or she could pull a Nick Cummins move and say thanks but no thanks to all three. We’ll have to wait and see.
