Em Rusciano’s radio replacement announced - NEWS.com.au

Em Rusciano’s radio replacement has been announced.

In September Rusciano quit the 2Day FM breakfast show she hosted alongside Ed Kavalee and Grant Denyer to focus on her pregnancy.

Ash London, who hosts the national night show on the Hit Network, filled in for Rusciano for the remainder of the year while station bosses began the search for a permanent co-host for 2019.

But the Hit Network announced today that London impressed during her time on air with Kavalee and Denyer and will stay on as co-host of the 2Day FM breakfast show in 2019.

“She is the real deal, connects authentically with audiences and brings a fun, fresh and frank take on the day,” Gemma Fordham, Head of the Hit Network, said about London.

“The chemistry she has with Grant and Ed will only continue to flourish and we are excited about what is ahead for them!”

If you’re sick of hearing so much chat on breakfast radio shows, you’ll be thrilled to hear that the 2Day team is going to focus on playing more music between 6-9am next year.

“We know that’s what our audience wants and that’s the 2Day FM difference,” Fordham said.

In other radio news, comedian Lawrence Mooney is leaving Triple M Brisbane’s The Big Breakfast show to replace Matty Johns on Triple M’s Grill Team in Sydney next year.

Johns announced in November that he was leaving the breakfast show due to challenges juggling his late-night TV commitments with Fox Sports with the early hours of breakfast radio.

“After eight years, that can take a toll and for that reason I’ve decided to take a break from radio. Not an easy decision, but the right one,” Johns said at the time.

Comedian Nick Cody will replace the hole left by Lawrence Mooney on The Big Breakfast.

And finally, fans of Hughesy and Kate can breathe a sigh of relief with the news that Langbroek will still co-host the Hit Network’s national drive show next year.

In January, Langbroek told news.com.au that she was planning to move overseas with her family in 2019.

“You’ve got to have plans in life and I love my job and I love doing this show but I also would love to live in Europe for a year with my children and not work,” she said at the time.

“I’d love to have a gorgeous Nonna from a nearby village who comes up with a basket full of homemade gnocchi and then some eccentric guy called Sergio who comes to fix the leaking roof which has been pulled apart by 100-year-old ivy that’s climbing up the Tuscan walls.”

As revealed by the Herald Sun today, Langbroek is still planning to move to Bologna in March next year with her family but will continue to co-host the popular radio show.

“I was going to stop working but I’ll do the show from there,” she told the Herald Sun. “It was his (Hughesy’s) idea.

“At this point, everything is so precarious, but we have return tickets for a year and I said to the kids if we hate it, we’ll come home.”
