Keanu Reeves reveals Winona Ryder calls him ‘husband’ - NEWS.com.au

Keanu Reeves has opened up about his maybe legal marriage to Winona Ryder, joking that things between the pair are “awesome”.

Last year, Ryder revealed she and Reeves had been married by a Romanian priest while filming a wedding scene for 1992 film Dracula.

“We actually got married in Dracula. No, I swear to god I think we’re married in real life,” Ryder told a disbelieving Reeve during a joint interview with Entertainment Weekly last August.

“In that scene, (director) Francis (Ford Coppola) used a real Romanian priest. We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So I think we’re married.”

Speaking to US show The Talk on Monday, Reeves joked that marriage to Ryder is “awesome” and revealed the actress is convinced the two are legally wed.

“Once in a while, I will get a text, ‘Hello, husband,’” he said. “I didn’t really believe her, and then Francis Ford Coppola, the director of Dracula, contacted Winona and said publicly that, yeah, that really happened, the priest did a full ceremony, and Winona and I got married.”

Despite the possibility that the pair could be legally hitched, Ryder has been married to Scott Mackinlay Hahn since 2011.

But the Girl, Interrupted star and Reeves have been good friends since they made their acting debut alongside each other in Dracula.

They have appeared together in 2006’s A Scanner Darkly, 2009 film The Private Lives of Pippa Lee and 2018 comedy Destination Wedding.
