Leaving Neverland: Paris Jackson 'in rehab' over Michael claims - NEWS.com.au

Paris Jackson has reportedly checked herself into rehab after being left “devastated” by the release of the Leaving Neverland documentary.

According toThe Sun, the star is “utterly distraught” this has resurfaced so close to the 10th anniversary of her dad’s death in June.

Friends of the 20-year-old are said to have grown concerned after claims she had “suffered a complete meltdown” following the explosive documentary Leaving Neverland aired at Sundance Festival recently.

According to the Express, the model is struggling to cope with the allegations against her dad by his alleged victims.

A friend of hers is reported to have said: “She’ll resurface sooner or later but certainly isn’t ready to face the cameras on a subject that keeps breaking her heart.”

Paris has spoken openly about her struggles with mental health following time spent on a psychiatric ward after three apparent suicide attempts.

Earlier this month it was reported Paris had entered a treatment facility amid concerns for her “emotional and physical health”.

Sources close to her revealed she had “decided that she needed to take some time off to reboot, realign and prioritise her physical and emotional health.”

Following a busy 12 months, Paris felt she needed some help with Entertainment Tonight reporting that, “she checked herself into a treatment facility to aid in her wellness plan.”

The cause of Paris’s most recent devastation is four-hour film — Leaving Neverland — which focuses on allegations against Michael Jackson by two men, Wade Robson and James Safechuck.

Directed by British filmmaker Dan Reed, the documentary was shown at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah earlier this month.

Due to the extreme and triggering sexual content, the makers organised counsellors and medical staff to be on standby in the lobby in case viewers were left disturbed.

Audiences were said to be “astonished” and “sickened” by some of the graphic and explicit sexual details in the film.

A spokesperson for the Jackson’s slammed the most recent claims made against Michael saying: “Leaving Neverland isn’t a documentary. It is the kind of tabloid character assassination Michael Jackson endured in life, and now in death.

“The film takes uncorroborated allegations that supposedly happened 20 years ago and treats them as fact.

“These claims were the basis of lawsuits filed by the two admitted liars which were ultimately dismissed by a judge.

The documentary, which will air on HBO later this year, details the alleged abuse suffered by Robson, 36, and Safechuck, 40.

Prior to his death in 2009, Jackson had always maintained his innocence and repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.

The singing icon was acquitted of child molestation in June 2005, with the two alleged victims both making failed legal bids to sue him and his estate.
