Piers Morgan riles Meghan Markle fans with banana mockery - AOL UK

Piers Morgan has come under fire from Meghan Markle fans for ridiculing the Duchess of Sussex giving inspirational bananas to sex workers.

Meghan and Harry were paying a visit to Bristol charity One25, which supports women involved in sex work, when she got involved with helping to prepare food packages and decided to write motivational messages on bananas with a pen.

They included phrases such as "you are brave", "you are strong", and "you are loved", which Good Morning Britain host Piers called patronising, as well as mocking the Duchess for her choice of fruit.

During the breakfast show, he said: "Giving a sex worker a banana is clearly exposing them to potential mockery.

"If you had been advising Meghan Markle before this and she said, 'I've got a great idea, I'm going to give a load of sex workers who are really struggling at the moment signed bananas', would you have said maybe not the bananas?"

He also pretended to be Meghan, grabbing a banana and saying: "Hand me my sharpie, my moment has come to empower sex workers."

But when a guest on GMB argued that he couldn't understand the power of a motivational message from his massive position of privilege, Morgan wouldn't back down.

He shot back: "You don't think that Meghan Markle is? She is living in a palace with a prince, you couldn't get more privileged."

Morgan had previously complained about the gesture on Twitter, writing: "This is one of the weirdest, most ridiculous things I have ever seen a member of the Royal Family do."

But fans of Meghan jumped to her defence, saying that she was showing empathy and compassion, and claiming that Morgan always attacks her.

Morgan's previous rants against the Duchess have included labelling her a ruthless social climber and condemning her for cutting off her father.
