Convicted paedophile Rolf Harris reportedly walked onto the grounds of a primary school on Tuesday — before waving at children.

Harris, 88, was told to leave by the head teacher of the school in Maidenhead, in Berkshire to the west of London.

A witness, who took pictures of Harris stalking the grounds, told the UK’s Mirror newspaper: “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”

The disgraced entertainer — who served three years in prison for a string of historical sex offences — shook hands with the head teacher before he was ordered off the site, the paper says.

Richard Jarrett, head of the town’s Oldfield Primary School, insisted Harris had no access to the students — and informed the police.

But parents are outraged that he was able to wave and smile at their children.

Mr Jarrett said: “We’ve got a wood sculptor working close to the road at the moment and Rolf Harris lives about three doors down from the school.

“He must have seen him [the sculptor] and come into the school area. He had no access to the children whatsoever.”

Harris explained that he was there to pick up some wood from the sculptor — but Mr Jarrett told him: “You need to go”.

Asked if he was concerned about the paedophile waving at children, the head teacher replied: “I was not there at the time to stop him waving at the children.”

Shamed TV star Harris was sentenced in June 2014 to five years nine months in prison for a dozen indecent assaults against four teenage girls between 1968 and 1986.

He was released on license after three years in May 2017 — with his sentence running out in March next year.

Harris is thought to have been placed on the sex offender register — but it is not clear if he will have breached this by entering the school grounds.

He was photographed outside the school at about noon on Tuesday wearing a Red Jacket similar to the one he wore in his mugshot.

The passer-by who took the snaps said: “I could not believe what I was seeing. A convicted paedophile should not be in the grounds of a primary school.

“He was waving at the children through the window. I think they were on lunch or maybe in class.

“They were waving back at him and clearly had no idea who he was.”

And a furious mum of two said: “For him to just be able to freely walk in is not a good thing.

“If you’re a paedophile you can’t be going near a school. I’m disgusted.”

The UK Ministry of Justice said: “When sex offenders are released they are subject to strict licence conditions and are liable to be returned to custody for breaching them.

“We are looking into these reports and will take appropriate action.”

Thames Valley Police said: “Thames Valley Police was called to Oldfield Primary School on Bray Road, Maidenhead, at around 3.15pm today.

“A report was made that a man was on the site of the school.

“An officer attended the scene but no offence was committed. No arrests were made.”

Harris was not at home to comment on the incident, according to the Mirror.
