Brownlow red carpet 2019 LIVE: Best dressed, start time, dresses, gallery - The Age

Gone are the days where you have to wait until the players and their glamorous partners step on to the red carpet for the big dress reveal. More and more of the wives and partners of the AFL’s biggest names are providing a sneak peek of their gowns on social media from inside their hotel rooms. While we love nothing more than a sneak peek, I do wonder if the ‘wow’ factor is diminished somewhat when the big reveal is made virtually. Would Rebecca Judd’s unforgettable, plunging red dress have been so jaw-dropping had we already caught a glimpse of it before she stepped onto the red carpet leaving us all speechless?

Structure and nude tones are set to be two trends tonight. TV host Abbey Gelmi is 2/2 in this Capellazzo Couture corseted gown.

The Insta fans have voted and Nadia Bartel’s show stopping, strapless, pale blue gown from J’Aton Couture is a winner. It’s only been 30 minutes since she posted two photos of her stunning Brownlow gown from inside Crown and Instagram is in meltdown with more than 1,500 comments, ranging from “seriously amazing” to “perfection.” I think that’s a thumbs up from the couch critics.

It's early and they're still vaccuming the carpet - which is red!

If timing is everything in football, then Sam Reid and Greater Western Sydney have absolutely nailed it.

The 29-year-old utility has enjoyed an early win in AFL grand final week with his wife Elissa giving birth to a healthy baby boy in the early hours of Monday morning.

Bartel is stepping out after the rough marriage break-up with former AFL star Jimmy Bartel. The mother-of two is a regular on the red carpet, and will certainly stand out when she joins Channel Seven's coverage tonight.

It also looks like Jessie Murphy is having a haircut ahead of Brownlow. Stylist Marie Uva was seen on Instagram giving Murphy, wife of Carlton's Marc Murphy, a decent trim. Definitely more than an inch!

I have my sleuth hat on and noticed that some of the shoes on Lana Wilkinson's Instagram posts are tagged @bylanawilkinson. Could the super stylist be about to launch her own fashion line, specifically footwear?

Peels, spray tans, extra gym sessions... the work that goes into getting red carpet ready is gruelling. Jessie Murphy, wife of Carlton’s Marc Murphy took to Instagram to share some of her pre-Brownlow prep.

And it’s not just the women who have been prepping early for the Brownlow red carpet. Bomber Jake Stringer was among a long list of AFL players who ducked into a pop up barber @CrownMelbourne for a quick trim and style ahead of tonight’s glamorous event.
