'That kind of behaviour is intolerable': Leigh Sales responds to unwanted kiss - The Age

ABC's 7.30 presenter Leigh Sales has been left “offended and angered” after a man tried to kiss her at a charity event on Saturday.

The Guardian reported retired businessman Phil Newman introduced Sales, the host for the evening, at a black-tie event for about 200 people at the Hilton Sydney. He then offered his cheek to Sales, before turning his head and kissing her on the lips.

Following the incident, Leigh Sales said: "the time for women being subject to it or having to tolerate it is long gone."

The publication reported Newman later approached Sales at her table and offered his cheek again, but Sales told him off.

On Monday, the ABC presenter said in a statement: "The only reason I am commenting publicly is that I feel, given how many people witnessed the incident, it would be gutless not to stand up and say that kind of behaviour is intolerable and the time for women being subject to it or having to tolerate it is long gone."
