Frances Abbott&#039;s surprise wedding

FRANCES Abbott has married her fiance of three months, Sam Loch, on Valentine's Day, with the happy couple sharing the news on Instagram.

The daughter of former Prime Minister Tony Abbott posted an intimate black and white picture, saying "Happy Valentine's Day @samloch Always and forever #locheddown #youmaynowkissthebride #f**kyes."

Sam Loch said: "The celebratory component isn't for a couple of months, but we made it official in the eyes of the law today. We're the motherf**king Mighty Morphin Power Rangers of love."

The 26-year-old fitness model and personal trainer was pictured in a simple, white strapless dress with sandals and her hair out. Loch wore a plain white shirt with no tie and dark trousers while they proudly showed off their rings.

The "celebratory component" of the wedding will take place in a "couple of months", Loch said.

The couple made headlines in November when they got engaged just two weeks after having met. Loch, 34, is an Olympian rower turned weightlifter who competed in both the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

Frances Abbott made headlines last year when she voiced her support for same-sex marriage during the plebiscite debate despite her dad's high profile opposition. The former PM said at the time he was proud of his daughter having independent views on the issue.

Frances has previously revealed the couple got engaged in her kitchen when she was putting peas in the freezer and turned around to see Mr Loch holding a bottle of champagne.

"He said, 'Why aren't you asking me why I'm holding champagne?' So I said, 'OK ... why are you holding champagne?' He said, 'Well, I thought we could drink it after I asked you to marry me,'" she said.

They had met two weeks earlier through a mutual friend and been on a coffee date.

"Everyone's like, 'Wow, this is really fast,'" she said. "But it feels so natural to me. His energy, it's so grounding. When I am around him, I am like, 'This is what it's meant to be like.' Life is short, and love is special, and sometimes you just need to follow your instincts."

Frances said Mr Loch gets on well with her dad which can be "quite intimidating for anyone".

"He's so grounded and so settled in his own skin. It felt totally natural. There was no change in [Sam's] voice, no sitting upright. Dad liked him. Dad likes everyone, but I think he was particularly - well, Dad is a rower. He was like, straight away, 'Let's talk about rowing.'"
