A grieving mother has sensationally gate-crashed the launch of a controversial book revealing never-before-heard details of her daughter’s horrific murder.
In exclusive footage captured by 9NEWS at last night’s event, a distressed Sonia Anderson interrupts the psychiatrist-turned-author.
"I read in your book that my daughter wanted to say goodbye to her son and I didn’t know that until you wrote it," she told a stunned Dr Donald Grant.
"That's private, you should have come to me, you should have contacted me.
"For eight years, I’ve spent a lot of time with journalists, with television, with newspaper articles and magazines and you the psychiatrist are the one and only person that has caused me and my family deliberate distress.
"(You are) trying to make a name for yourself to make money to line your pockets on my daughter’s murder," she told him.
Dozens of shocked guests began walking out, cutting the event short.
Young mother Bianca Girven was strangled to death by her boyfriend Rhys Austin in 2010. He was interviewed in hospital by Dr Grant who worked as the head of the state’s forensic psychiatry service.
Dr Grant has since published the book Killer Instinct detailing 10 of the state’s most high-profile murders.
"I knew she had been strangled to death, I knew it took 10 minutes but I never knew the last words," Ms Anderson told 9NEWS.
"It's one of the most amazing, disgusting unethical things that I can imagine," she said.
When approached by 9NEWS at last night's event, Dr Grant dodged cameras and refused to confirm where the profits of his book would go, then called a snap press conference this afternoon.
"I believe families deserve insight into why their loved ones were killed," Dr Grant said while reading from a statement.
"Families of victims should have access to expert reports."
He has since vowed to donate some of the profits to helping victims' families.
Opposition MP Ros Bates launched a blistering attack on the government over the saga.
"(Health Minister) Steven Miles and Queensland Health need to apologise to these families, they need to have an inquiry into how this occurred, they need to stop the proceeds of the book going to profit the author,” she said.
Queensland Health said it was making enquiries.
"We can't underestimate how serious an issue this appears to be," a spokesperson said.
"On its surface, it looks like a betrayal of patients, victims and their families and the clinician's duty to do the right thing professionally."
"We are incredibly distressed and are looking into the matter further."
Health Minister Steven Miles declined to comment.
