Miley Cyrus is a stickler for tradition!
The 26-year-old pop-star officially took husband Liam Hemsworth's last name, he has revealed, and it actually took him by surprise.
The 29-year-old Australian superstar star opened up about the big change in an interview on Kelly & Ryan that aired Friday in the US.
"I heard you got married…to one of my favorite people. Miley Cyrus," co-host Kelly Ripa asked the Melbourne native.
"Miley Ray Hemsworth now, actually," the Isn't It Romantic star said proudly. He confirmed that the 'We Can't Stop' singer would still go by Miley Cyrus professionally.
And his response to her decision was the sweetest ever.
"I think that was honestly one of the best things about it. I didn't ask her to take my name, but then she's like, 'No, of course I'm taking your name,'" he recalled. "I'm like, 'That's awesome. That's really good.'"
The longtime couple wed in a private ceremony at her home in Franklin, Tennessee, in December. Of that intimate wedding, Hemsworth said it was exactly how they wanted it.
"[We] never wanted to do anything too extravagant or big," he told Ripa and co-host Ryan Seacrest.
"We find the whole thing kind of embarrassing," he said. "We know how we feel about each other, but we just wanted to do something simple and organic and just with immediate family. But it was a really nice day. Really special."
And married life has been quite blissful, especially when it comes to their new titles as "husband" and "wife!"
He even revealed that he's since updated the singer's credentials in his mobile phone.
"I just have her in as 'wife,'" Hemsworth boasted.
He also used the formal title at last month's G'Day USA Back Tie Gala in Los Angeles, where he thanked his "beautiful wife"
"You are a sweet, sweet angel. You're great, you're great," added.
