Grammys 2019: Ariana Grande slams awards over ‘trash’ Mac Miller snub while boycotting ceremony - NEWS.com.au

Ariana Grande has slammed this year’s “trash” Grammys after her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller missed out on a posthumous gong for best rap album.

Miller, who dated Grande for two years and died last year of an accidental drug overdose, had been nominated for his album Swimming.

As rapper Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy was announced as this year’s rap album of the year Grande shared a series of furious tweets, which have since been deleted.

“literal bulls**t,” the Side to Side singer wrote in one, also adding “bulls**t,” “f**k,” and “trash”.

Making it pretty clear her commentary was about Miller missing out on a Grammy, Grande also replied to a fan who had tweeted: “Y’all invited Mac’s parents out and you didn’t give him an award are y’all DUMB?”

“this. this is what i meant. karen (Miller’s mother) was gonna have a green suit made,” Grande replied, also adding in a later tweet: “he slept in the studio for two months.”

Miller’s fans also agreed with Grande, taking to Twitter to vent their disappointment that the rapper hadn’t been honoured.

Miller and Grande broke up in May last year, with the singer getting engaged to comedian Pete Davidson a month later.

Davidson and Grande split in October, less than a month after Miller’s death.

Earlier, Grande had shared with fans what she would’ve worn had she turned up to the Grammys.

The Thank U, Next star posted a series of photos on social media during the ceremony, tagging director and friend Alfredo Flores. He in turn posted another picture of Grande, declaring her “my Grammy princess.”

It’s unclear who designed the pastel-blue, voluminous gown.

Grande scored her first Grammy Award before the televised ceremony today, winning Best Pop Vocal Album for S weetener — an album released six months ago that she followed up with a new album last Friday. And while she might be sitting out the ceremony, it appears she’s watching from home — she earlier tweeted her support for singer Janelle Monae as she performed on stage.

Grande last week slammed Grammys producers who claimed she dropped out of performing at the ceremony because “she felt it was too late to pull something together”.

Grammy Awards: All the winners

Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich told The Associated Press that the Recording Academy wanted her to perform after having “conversations over the past month or so”.

“As it turned out when we finally got the point where we thought maybe it would work, she felt it was too late for her to pull something together for sure,” Mr Ehrlich said.

But Grande fired back, launching a string of tweets claiming Mr Ehrlich was “lying” about her.

“i’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me,” she wrote. “i can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken.

“it was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that i decided not to attend. i hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more.”
